We shall discuss the existence of long-lived ordered structures for some geophysical flows like 2d Euler equations and the generalized SQG equations. We will focus on patches subject to uniform rotation with various topological structure: simply connected and doubly connected ones. The boundary effects are in general neglected but we shall discuss in the end of the talk some perspectives in bounded domains. The contents of this lecture is from joint works with Z.
